My Approach

I consider myself a multi-modal therapist in that I use a variety of evidence-based treatments (positive psychology, strength-based, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness) to assist you in identifying otherwise sub-conscious problematic beliefs. These beliefs can sometimes act as a source of great anxiety and unhappiness and other times be the driver of unhelpful habits and behaviors. By assisting you in identifying, challenging, and replacing these beliefs with more helpful ones, my aim is to help you remove the obstacles in your path to success and to live your best life.   

 

My relational style in session is informed by feminist therapy.  As a feminist therapist, I do not play the role of a benevolent, invisible expert.  Nor do I pretend that our relationship has equal power. Instead, I will own and periodically name my part in our therapeutic relationship.

 

I believe in naming what’s in the room, and in doing so, I aim to help you name what happens in various other rooms in your life. It also helps in our building an authentic connection and trust that not only do I see you for who you are, but that I can be a helpful partner in investigating all aspects, ranging from the personal to the socio-political nature of your experiences. My ultimate aim is to create a safe space for you to explore various factors that may contribute to your success.
